Vianca Lopez Molina

Vianca Lopez Molina is a junior at the University of Southern California majoring in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and minoring in Health Care Studies. She currently serves as USC AMWA’s Social Media Coordinator. This is her third year in AMWA! Vianca originally joined AMWA to find a community of like-minded, driven women who understand the challenges of the pre-med journey and she’s stayed because of the strong support network, meaningful service opportunities, and genuine friendships she’s made along the way. After graduating, Vianca plans to take a gap year before applying to medical school, where she hopes to continue serving underrepresented communities as a future physician. Outside of AMWA, Vianca is involved in several research projects and campus organizations. She’s a research assistant in USC’s Brain, Emotion, and Attention Development Lab, where she studies infants’ emotional and social development (work she’s been doing since her freshman year). She recently joined the Goran Lab at CHLA, where she’ll explore how social determinants of health contribute to the prevalence of diabetes in Latino communities. Outside of AMWA, Vianca is also active in Science Outreach, Latino Students in Medicine, the Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP), and Keck PREP, a pre-medical mentoring program. When she’s not in lab or class, you can find Vianca exploring new cafés around LA, reading a book, or designing fun flyers and posts for AMWA’s Instagram. Her advice to new AMWA members: “Get involved, take up space, and don’t be afraid to reach out to other members! We’re all navigating the pre-med journey together, and this community is here to uplift you every step of the way.”
