Ella Shin
Ella is a junior, majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Healthcare Studies. She serves as the Volunteer & Fundraising Coordinator, as she is deeply passionate about expanding healthcare accessibility and giving back to her Los Angeles community. Ella joined AMWA for its community of like-minded women. She has enjoyed the valuable lessons given by special guests and by her peers. Currently, she volunteers in the NICCU of the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, cuddling babies while learning the intricacies of neonatology. Ella contributes to research focused on protein structure and function for pharmaceutical applications in the Cogan Lab at the Health Science Campus. She is also involved in SC Healthcare Outreach, an organization that educates the local community of their healthcare options and provides enrollment in Covered California plans. After applying to medical school during the end of her senior year, Ella plans to take a gap year. She looks forward to continuing her education both inside and outside of the classroom and lab, but she is most excited for a future career in neonatology. In her free time, Ella loves to shop, drink coffee, hangout with friends, and visit the beach. Ella hopes that new members feel welcome -- unafraid to ask questions and eager to foster relationships with other members.
